Northshore Enduring Hope
- Tuesday, 28 Feb 2017
This is the village at work on behalf of kids and families in the system! Through James Storehouse outreach, we were able to connect resources to the foster parents who attend this region’s first and only foster parent support group, Northshore Enduring Hope led by Doree Kelly. Southeastern Louisiana’s Pi Beta Phi Alumni Club came and offered a literacy program from Pre-K to 3rd grade. With kids lagging behind in reading due to family struggles and many transitions, this is a welcomed resource. Mercy Print Ministry was also in attendance to offer ongoing support to foster families and special event coordination for the kids to have fun outings on occasion. Ms. Terrilynn Bowe, a supervisor for child welfare, was also there to be a bridge of support and liaison which helps to strengthen the relationship between fosters and the system. Thank you to everyone working on behalf of the children! We love seeing all these empowering connections happening in our hub of love.
The Lake 94.7
- Friday, 17 Feb 2017
Thank you Lake 94.7 for inviting me on today to talk about the crisis in foster care we are facing (too many kids coming into the system and a lack of families to care for them) and how James Storehouse – Louisiana is helping to change that by providing critical resources that help expedite safe placements and keep our families supported. They asked us back in a few weeks to continue the dialogue. There is no dialogue more urgent than the one we need to have about children who desperately need loving families!

Create, Innovate, and Execute – Together!

After serving the foster care population for six years, THIS is thinking. THIS is teamwork. THIS is awesome. We must use innovation and collaboration to response to our most daunting challenges. It will take risk, maybe some areas of failure, and orgs reinventing themselves to better support the need. This is where we are headed. Bravo, RISE. AND, I absolutely believe an Arts & Science Academy is doable in Covington and would be a game changer for the future of this wonderful community, city, and parish. We are a people of tradition and innovation in all the right ways.
To our amazing James Storehouse Louisiana team, get your white boards out. To my Leadership St. Tammany Class who are engineers, architects, builders, CPA’s, CFO’s, COO’s, law enforcement, lawyers, nonprofit leaders, entrepreneurs, journalists, pastors, community activists, communication gurus and city planners… get your white boards out. Let’s create, innovate, and execute… Together!
