la-supervisors-eventI am heading to Los Angeles. Excited to receive a special honor with our James Storehouse – California team presented by Los Angeles County Board Supervisor Michael Antonovich. I never thought in a million years we would be honored along with Tommy Lasorda! As many of you know, JS started over 5 years ago in Los Angeles as a response to a crisis. Los Angeles County being the highest population of kids in foster care in the nation, we set out to help fill the gaps of support that kept kids from getting placed in safe homes on a timely basis and that would help transition kids leaving the system. What started out as filling the trunk of my car with critical items given such as cribs, clothing, baby essentials, twin beds, and bedding from friends and neighbors has now grown into 2 brick and mortar storehouses in 2 states serving thousands of kids and families every year. The James Storehouse – California team continues to expand the vision and services in that region and I couldn’t be more proud.

Our work would not be possible without the partnership of the Department of Child and Family Services and other child welfare-related agencies linking these resources with the children in need. Thank you Lovette Panthier-Gerst! We do not take this trust lightly and we strive to be a great steward of this responsibility. Our work also would not be possible without the men and women who show up for every need request we put out there. Without YOU there is absolutely no James Storehouse. Last but certainly not least, we are thankful to God for opening our eyes and then our hearts to the most overlooked and invisible in our society, and, for giving us the grace to respond to such a great privilege.

To Him Be All The Glory.

Thanks everyone again for being the greatest “Village” we have the privilege to partner with. We appreciate all that you have helped make happen and will continue to make happen on behalf of kids in transition. Because of your attention, we see miracles.
