James Storehouse Louisiana Grand Opening at New Location!

At James Storehouse, WE HAVE A DREAM… to see every child in foster care, and youth in transition, connect to loving homes and empowering communities.

Come join us for lunch at the Grand Opening for our NEW location on JANUARY 17th and hear about how we are transforming out of being a resource center into being a family center that will better serve our kids and families. Come see us and find out how YOU can be a part of the village.

While you grab lunch on us, we will be sharing our vision and plan to ensure loving homes for the many children coming into foster care. We are also launching new initiatives in 2017 that will empower “youth in transition” by providing resources and opportunities to meet their educational, employment/career, and social needs. Building a strong community network around our youth, and their families, is foundational to all we do. We are not just desiring better outcomes for our youth. We want to see them thrive!

James Storehouse – Louisiana – Disaster Call Center

James Storehouse Louisiana is assisting children and single mothers affected by the flood in addition to the children and families we already serve in foster care and family services. Since parking is outrageous and our space small, we ask that requests are made via email or phone if possible to assure effective distribution to our most vulnerable at this time. We will also inform the community of our specific needs as we assess the needs of those we serve so the most useful donations can be collected. Please no drop-ins unless an emergency or dropping off any donations we need to collect for those affected. We are also collecting monetary donations so we are able to help these folks transition into safe housing. Please consider making a donation that goes DIRECTLY to those we serve at

Thank you!

Children in Desperate Need of Foster Parents

An alarming statistic and need is happening in Louisiana: Children in desperate need of foster parents. The number of children entering the foster-care system. In a report from the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services, the numbers are staggering.

The information is up to date from June 2016. Each month, over 300 children are removed from the care of a parent because of drug use, neglect or physical or sexual abuse. Each of the kids need a safe refuge from the chaos that is an abusive home.

LA DCFS says that Louisiana is in desperate need of foster families. A foster family provides this refuge to these children in need.

Statewide there are 4800 children in need of foster care according to DCFS. That is up 14% over the previous 3 years and there are only 2200 foster care homes available.

For more information on becoming a foster care home, below are several resources for information.
